The End of Religion

A friend put me onto a little book called The End of Religion.

The back page says "What if God himself were to make a personal appearance on planet Earth? And what if he came to offer us an astounding message: that religion has outlived its usefulness, that it is hurting more than it is helping, and that it is time to shut the whole thing down?"

My favorite thought from the book is "What if no religions lead to God?"

If you want to hear more I'm sure you can find the book.

Karl Barth says somewhere that religion is humanity's favourite way of defending itself against God. and then there's the great prophet Bono: 'Religion is what happens when God leaves and we have to put something else in his place'.
